Respiratory performance of humans exposed to moderate levels of carbon dioxide

چکیده

In a business as usual scenario, atmospheric carbon dioxide concentration (CO2) could reach 950 parts per million (ppm) by 2100. Indoor CO2 concentrations will rise consequently, given its dependence on levels. If buildings are ventilated following current standards in 2100, indoor be over 1300 ppm, depending specific ventilation codes. Such exposure to have physiological and psychological effects building occupants. We conducted randomized, within-subject study, examining the respiratory functions of 15 persons. examined three exposures, each 150 min long, with of: 900 ppm (reference), 1450 (decreased ventilation), (reference condition added pure CO2). measured parameters capnometry forced vital capacity (FVC) tests. End-tidal respiration rates did not significantly differ across exposures. Parameters using FVC decreased from start end only at reduced (p < 0.04, large effect size). Hence, poor likely affects parameters. This is probably caused increased alone rather other pollutants—predominantly human bioeffluents this work—whose result.

assessment of the park- ang damage index for performance levels of rc moment resisting frames

the role of application of dynamic assessment approach in improvement of iranian efl writing performance at different language proficiency levels

the present study sought to investigate the role of dynamic assessment (da) in improvement of iranian efl writing performance at different language proficiency levels. to this end, after conducting the quick placement test, 60 iranian efl learners were assigned to two groups with different language proficiency levels. in both groups each participant wrote two compositions, one before and one af...

The Respiratory Response to Carbon Dioxide

1. A technique for determining the respiratory response to carbon dioxide on the Peabody principle is described. 2. The relation between minute volume of total pulmonary ventilation and percentage of carbon dioxide in the inspired air can be expressed by a simple mathematical formula, viz. Y = K + ab(z), in which Y is the ventilation rate, X is the CO(2) content of the inspired air, and K, a, a...

Investigating the Relationship Between End Tidal Carbon Dioxide and Arterial Carbon Dioxide Pressure in Patients With Respiratory Distress Referred to the Emergency Room of Hazrat Rasool Akram Hospital

Background: Measuring End-Tidal Carbon Dioxide (ETCO-2) can be a non-invasive, fast, and reliable method to predict partial pressure of carbon dioxide (PaCO2) in patients with respiratory distress. This method, which can be a suitable substitute to measure PaCO2, is being used in many emergency rooms and operating rooms in developed countries, but its exact relationship with PaCO2 has not been ...

Respiratory function in power plant workers exposed to nitrogen dioxide.

BACKGROUND Power plant workers are potentially exposed to nitrogen dioxide (NO2) and may therefore be at higher risk of pulmonary diseases than the general population. AIMS To assess the association of NO2 exposure with spirometric abnormalities in power plant workers. METHODS Forced expiratory volume in 1 s (FEV1), forced vital capacity (FVC) and forced expiratory ratio (FER = FEV1/FVC) we...
